August 6, 2024 | Featured, News

We are pleased to present the July 2024 report from our Board of Administration (BOA). This report, available in both English and Spanish, offers insights into the ongoing initiatives and decisions that are shaping the direction of our church.

July 2024 BOA Overview

Our recent Board meeting, held at Foothill Community Church in Azusa, focused on establishing leadership for the new conference year and discussing the board’s role in guiding our church. Key highlights include:

  • New Board Members and Farewell to Ed Song: We welcomed new and returning members to the BOA, and elected officers for the 2024-25 conference year, including Ruben Luna as Chair, Wendy Seyfert as Vice-Chair, Irene Ramirez as Secretary, and George Garcia as Treasurer. We also excepted the resignation of Ed Song due to a move to Oregon and expressed our deep appreciation for his service.
  • Board Governance Discussion: The BOA engaged in a thoughtful dialogue about its role, with a consensus to focus on big-picture and directional items while entrusting day-to-day operations to the Superintendent’s office and staff.
  • Commitment to Representation: Discussions were held regarding the importance of maintaining equal representation between lay members and ordained elders in board leadership roles.
  • Community Engagement: Board members have been tasked with fostering connections within our church community through personal meetings and expressions of gratitude to ministries and ministers.

We encourage you to review the full report for more detailed information on these and other important topics discussed during the meeting. Your continued engagement and support are vital to the growth and impact of our church community.

The Role of the BOA

The Board of Administration acts as the conference’s standing administrative committee between Annual Conference sessions. Their primary focus is to develop and manage policies for the entire conference within the constraints of the Book of Discipline. Comprising an equal number of ministerial and lay (non-ordained) leaders, the BOA ensures that we remain on a path of spiritual growth and community impact.
