Please pray for our congregation as we minister to those who have lost their homes. In our own congregation as this time only one home has been lost, Russell and Allyson Smelley. They live in the Westmont Faculty Housing where 14 homes were lost. The CFO, Doug Jones, and the Provost, Warren Rogers, are in our congregation and are dealing with the devastating losses at Westmont.

Though there are some thankful and miraculous things (the fire came up to the edges of the sidewalks around the library and stopped as well as three of the buildings which burned were emptied just this week for demolition in the new building project), the loss and the trauma on the college community needs all of our prayers.

We have five faculty that live in the Faculty housing or area who did not lose their homes. And we have about 15 families in the fire area, none of which have lost their homes, out of the 100+ homes that have burned. Please pray for the Santa Anna winds (50 to 70 mph) to die down and that the firefighters are safe.
